Harrah’s Resort Trip Report – Part 2 – Friday
….continued…
I left Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City after looking at the line for the Diamond Lounge and deciding that it was too long for a quick drink. I hopped into a cab and headed over to Bally’s for a drink and to claim some hard earned cash back.
First it was off to the Diamond Lounge for a quick drink and a snack. There was no line and I zipped right in. I learned that they were no longer serving Michelob Ultra, my favorite light beer, so I opted for a Corona. While waiting for the beer I grabbed a small sandwich and a nice sweet treat (chocolate cake). Everything was nice. I really like the vast Bally’s Diamond Lounge.
After the quick snack and drink I grabbed my cash and headed to the $1 9/6 Jacks of Better video poker machines. I only played here long enough to win back the cash from my $25 slot coupon. After cashing out I headed to Total Rewards to drop off a 5x reward card. There were two people on line and after waiting for about 15 minutes I left. Happily, I left up $35 + over $100 cash back. Not bad for 45 minutes.
I grabbed a cab and headed over to the Borgata to enjoy the college basketball games at the Amphora Lounge. Bally’s Diamond Lounge is great, but nothing is better than the Amphora Lounge. The huge leather recliners and multiple giant screens are the closest thing, outside of ESPN Zone, to a Las Vegas sportsbook. I spent a few hours here and had many Michelob Ultras. I grabbed a couple slices of prime rib for dinner. I usually don’t eat prime rib unless I’m at a wedding, but this was damn good. Even though there was a buffet of food I didn’t need anything else.

After watching basketball for a while I headed into the casino. It was crowded like a normal Friday night. I started looking for 9/6 25 cent Jacks or Better machines, but between the beer and people I couldn’t find anything. I sat down and promptly lost $20 in a 9/6 Bonus Poker machine in a few minutes. Disgusted by the performance I went to the tables. I played 3 card poker for a couple of hours but lost $240.
I had enough and headed back to Harrah’s to check the scene. It was just as crowded at Harrah’s as it was at the Borgata. I grabbed some more beer and headed to the high limit area for a while. I settled in to $5 9/6 Jacks or Better since the $1 machines were all taken. After losing $300 I decided that I’d had enough losing for the night and headed back towards my room.
The upper floors of the Waterfont Tower are past the Taste of the Shore food court and The Pool. My friend and I decided to grab some water and one last snack and check out the scene at The Pool. It looked crowded and there were lots of people walking around the area. It seems as if the only people going into the pool were guys. After snacking and people watching for a little while it was time to turn in.
To be continued…
