Harrah’s Resort Trip Report – Final Installment
Continued..
Sometimes I’ll end up staying for the final day of my trip instead of going home. This was one of those times. I got to enjoy a full Sunday at Harrah’s while waking up early Monday to go right to work. Work is normally a little difficult, but the last day of the trip is much more fun than wasting a weekend day in a car.
I woke up pretty early and needed coffee as usual. I made some coffee in the room while watching re-runs of Sportscenter on ESPN. As usual, the room coffee was awful so I went down to Temptations for a nice large cappuccino and a sweat treat – a chocolate cupcake. Both were stupendous and worth the $12.
After waiting for my friend to wake up we headed down to Reflections cafe for breakfast. It was less crowded than Saturday and our waiter wasn’t working. Too bad. Because I wasn’t feeling too well, I ordered the same thing as the day before. For whatever reason it wasn’t as good.
After breakfast I headed out to the casino. Hurting from my losses on Friday and Saturday I was feeling a little gambling shy. I don’t even know what I played, but I stuck with 25 cent slot machines for a couple of hours. I didn’t have a single beer and turned my leftover game tickets into wins at every game I played. It was amazing. Just a guess here, but I think I ended up about $200 plus. It felt pretty good.
There were a lot of people at check in, but the casino was pretty dead on Sunday. After losing $100 playing 9/6 Jacks or Better I headed to The Deli to get some lunch. I love that they have machines to order on. Nobody can mess that up! I got a cheese steak, fries and water and headed back to the room. I ate at a nice leisurely pace. The food was all pretty good. I’d rate it slightly above average and will gladly enjoy it another time.

After a little RnR I headed back to the casino feeling re-invigorated. I found a great 3 card poker table. The dealer kept quoting “Caddy Shack”, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. The players were all jovial having a good time. It was here that I learned that Michelob Ultra and Amstel Light are now considered premium beers and only for Seven Stars members. I wondered aloud why I was able to drink Michelob Ultra’s all weekend. They’re still serving bottles, which is nice. I also learned that cabanas at the pool are still increasing in price. They are currently $2,500 with demand not slowing down.
Still playing timidly, I played the table minimums and I hit a straight flush. I walked away from the table up $300. On my way to cash in my chips I stopped by that Top Dollar slot machine and added to my winning total with a +$100.
Everything worked out perfectly as I walked into Xhibition Bar about 5 minutes before the NCAA Tournament Selection show. I had my first and only drinks, Kettel & OJ, of the day while playing video poker and watching the selections. Selections went as I predicted and I hit my first and only loss of the day – minus $6.
My last foray with gambling for the trip would be another trip to the high limits room, which was still empty. I played $1 Jacks or Better and ended even. I normally don’t leave at even, but I was tired and had to use the rest room.
When I was done I headed back toward my room and was astonished by the crowd at the buffet. I think everyone that checked in that morning and afternoon had a free buffet coupon. I’ve never seen a line like that. I cut through the line and went to Sack o Subs for a final bite to eat in the room. I watched the World Baseball Classic and headed to sleep a little early since I had to rise early for work.
Overall, the trip was a blast. I had great times with good friends and even got in some rest. I lost a little money gambling, but that only slowed me down a little. I doubled my comp dollars which will come in handy when I head out to Las Vegas next month.

nice trip. thanks for the great read. it was worth the wait!
Thanks jmp. I felt it getting a little long, but couldn’t stop. lol. I’ll need to consolidate my Vegas report as it will be 5 days.
