Gambling & Casino Talk from Las Vegas to Atlantic City

Gambling in AC – Slot Machines

Posted on July 31, 2009 by Marc

After my last trip to Atlantic City I swore off the penny slots.  I didn’t swear them off 100%, but I decided that I wouldn’t recklessly drop bills in these machines while wandering around nor will I drop a bill in just to play with a friend every time their inner grandma comes out. :)

With that being said I like playing slot machines, but I like the high limit slots because payout percentages are higher and the winnings can be bigger.  I’ll start with the good machines.

$1 slot

I was sitting next to my friend who was playing one of my favorite slots, Top Dollar.  Here’s what it looks like when you hit the bonus round.  I like the noise and the flashing lights.  I’m simple like that.

I don’t know the name of what I played, but I must have hit the RNG at the right time.  Karma pays as I always talk to slot machines very politely.  I think the machines talk to one another.  Anyway, I was up a little then I hit the bonus round….rather quickly.  I can’t really describe what happened, but things moved and then lights brightened at random and….

I hit the largest bonus available and won $2,000!  My first hand pay in a while and it was awesome.  Unlike my other winning experiences at Showboat, Bally’s and Harrah’s the attendants arrived quickly and I was paid in minutes.  There wasn’t even enough time for me to get bored and blow money in another slot.  I just looked at the parade of hot girls.

After I got paid and cashed out the remainder of my balance from the $1 slot I walked around feeling very satisfied.  My friend likes the group The Monkees (link is his favorite song, ack) and we stopped to play this penny slot.

He proceeded to throw away a couple of bills while chatting up and very pretty young lady.  I got bored, as usual, and played a similar game with a different theme.  I think I had some kind of hot pepper theme.  This was one of the few penny slots I played over the weekend.  Again, not a loss!

In fact, I kept hitting bonus round after bonus round.  I cashed out after a while and I finished up about $200.  Not too shabby for passing time!

I didn’t play many more slots over the weekend.  There was a small loss in a Wheel of Fortune machine and another small loss in a 25 cent Top Dollar machine.  The one penny slot I played was a 9 line Double Diamond game where I finished up $100 and down $100.

Overall, my slot experience was about even at Harrah’s and up a lot at Borgata.  I did a pretty good job of avoiding most of the penny slots and I didn’t play every time my friend played.  I’m happy about that and I’m happy about winning.  More positive results from this great weekend of gambling.
