August’s edition of Atlantic City video poker research showed both new and old information.  Video poker makes up about half of the gambling I do at a casino so I like to do my research while preparing for a trip.

vpFREE hasn’t had an update to most of the Harrah’s properties (Ballys, Harrahs, Caesars) since March so there isn’t anything surprising.  However, things were different when I looked at the Tropicana and Trump boardwalk properties.

I was surprised to see that Trump Plaza has such a large quantity of 9/6 Jacks or Better machines.  I was also surprised to see that Trump Taj Mahal has a couple other high percentage options.  Trump Plaza’s 9/6 inventory is only second to Borgata.  On the boardwalk Trump Plaza has the most 9/6 games followed by Bally’s.

On my next trip to Atlantic City I’m spending a night at Borgata and the rest of my time at Bally’s where I will make a pit stop at Trump Plaza and likely their beach bar as well.  After all, Trump Plaza now has a sexy beach bar.

    Buzz is that Trump Plaza’s blackjack is better as well. They don’t hit on soft seventeen, and it is six decks with high penetration into the deck which is beneficial even if you are a rudimentary card counter.

    I decided not to play blackjack at Trump, but the rules were as you stated. That’s a big bonus. I’m surprised they don’t promote that.
