Hard Rock Casino Coming to Atlantic City?
There are two rumors of new casinos that may be coming to Atlantic City as part of the small casino allowance that will become law next week. The Hard Rock casino-hotel may be the first new casino to be built.
(Bob) McDevitt and several casino executives said the Seminole Indian nation of Florida has expressed interest in building a new small-scale Hard Rock casino-hotel on land near a bus depot on Route 40, one of three major entranceways to Atlantic City. The Seminoles could announce a proposal as soon as next week, the executives said.
That’s an interesting location for a casino to be built as it’s bit of a walk away from other casinos and near The Walk shopping area. This location wouldn’t take advantage of the Atlantic Ocean which is one of the few assets Atlantic City has. If I’m thinking of the right location it would make the casino stumbling distance from White House Subs which wouldn’t be bad for most (even if I think they’re overrated).
The Chelsea is also being discussed as a hotel that might have a gambling area added to their space. I really like The Chealsea, but without a casino I don’t see myself staying there. A casino floor might draw me in for a bit longer than just dinner and drinks.
More and more people are looking for a custom-tailored experience and the smaller casino hotels may be able to provide that. I’m looking forward to seeing this develop.

where would chelsea put a casino? the ground level seems totally taken up with the small lobby and Terplitzky’s. Don’t they have some sort of sitting area on the 5th floor? That could work, but then you’d have a casino near-inaccessible from the Boardwalk. They’d either have to lighten security to let people up there or make it for guests only (kinda like what they’re supposed to do at the VF Conv Center if that ever gets off the ground).
JMP, when there’s a will, there’s a way.
