Happy 4th of July 1

Posted on July 02, 2010 by Marc

I’ll be taking the weekend to get some RnR so there won’t be any updates until July 5th.  Enjoy the 4th.  Eat, drink, be merry and safe.  Here are some fireworks from Atlantic City and Las Vegas to enjoy.

Week In Review 0

Posted on June 13, 2010 by Marc

The big news this week is split between the World Cup and Wynn Las Vegas tacking a $20 resort fee on to their standard room rates.  They must be ashamed about this because they’re hiding the fees in their terms and conditions and not clearly disclosing the fees.  I have to think this is illegal.  If so, this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.

Here’s the news from the week.

Fourth of July Fireworks on Atlantic City Boardwalk 2

Posted on June 11, 2010 by Marc

For the first time in a few years there will be fireworks above the Atlantic City boardwalk.

“So I just went back to my office and started making some calls to the other Boardwalk properties,” he (Don Marrandino, Harrah’s) said. “And from about 9:30 to 11:30am we had managed to raise about $85,000 for fireworks. All the Boardwalk properties stepped up. That’s what these meetings and discussions have done. That’s the spirit of cooperation the city is seeing.”

The display isn’t just being sponsored by Boardwalk casinos, but also by Boardwalk properties such as the Steel Pier and private businesses such as the Schiff Bros. and SOSH Architects.

This is more of a symbolic move than anything else for Atlantic City, but it’s nice to see the businesses in the area banding together to do something.  Here’s a look at last years fireworks over the marina.

ECG Week In Review 0

Posted on July 12, 2009 by Marc

A new feature for ECG is a simple roundup of posts made for the week.  This is a nice easy way to find posts for the whole week in one easy to read post.  If you’ve signed up for email or the RSS feed in the middle column this will hopefully make your time spent on ECG a little more efficient.   For a change there will be no added commentary.  No BS.  Just the news.  I hope you enjoy.

Atlantic City Fireworks! 0

Posted on July 06, 2009 by Marc

While I was updating ECG this weekend America celebrated its independence.  Many smaller towns have had to forgo their fireworks shows because of lack of funds.  Atlantic City was one of the towns to continue their tradition of fireworks by putting on a spectacular show.

You’ll notice a total redesign to ECG today.  This should improve usability and make things easier to find.  I was able to add both an RSS feed as well as a daily email update should you sign up.  All links and features are now located to the right of the page.  I’m hoping to have a list (or widget) of Atlantic City events posted before the week is out.

I’ve also figured out how to use spellcheck so hopefully I’ll catch some of my errors.  I hope the changes are to your liking.  If there are other things you’d like to see on the site feel free to email me at eastcoastgambler [at] gamil [dot] com.  Always feel free to send me a message or just follow me on twitter.
