Crazy week at ECG. The big news was the plan for major changing in horse racing and Atlantic City. The plans seem major, but they’re just plans and this is coming from the government, so I’m taking a wait and see while watching how things unfold.
This week will be the beginning of significant changes to ECG. I’ve been wanting to change the layout for a while, and that will happen in the next two weeks which mean that content will be slowing down and things will likely get (more) funny looking.
In this time I’ll explain why I’m welcoming the New BetRevolution.com to be my new sportsbook sponsor. It’s almost football season! Here’s the fun from the past week.
I updated the podcast section this weekend to make it easier to learn about each podcast and to download directly from itunes. I’ve also added a few new podcasts that I’ve been listening to lately.

There have been a bunch of good articles in the past couple of weeks about Las Vegas, but I haven’t had the brain to do more than just read them. Instead of just letting them sit in the ether, I figure I’d share them and add a little commentary where needed.
Penn National get final approval for Las Vegas. Does this speed up their purchase of Rio? Maybe Mirage? Maybe Station?
Dr. Dave Schwartz has a couple of good articles on twitter use in Las Vegas. UNLV Center For Gaming Research has a study of how casinos use twitter. Vegas Seven looks at the Harrah’s social media team.
August was a whirlwind month and I’m finally getting caught up with life as you may have noticed by the posts of my recent Atlantic City Trip. I still have a few to go, but the big boys are up. The roundup consists of some interesting stories over the past couple of weeks that I haven’t had a chance to share.
Gaming Atlantic details which sporting events are now legal in Delaware. I love playing parlays, so this isn’t awful. I usually detail my parlays on twitter and will try to add them here.
Sportsbook.com is always available, so I’m cool whatever happens in Delaware.
Club Grazie at Venetian & Palazzo changes it’s name to Grazie and expands to offer rewards for all spending. Not just gambling. Take a look at the comments and thoughts on Two Way Hard Three. I wish this was in effect when I paid for 4 people to have dinner at Carne Vino in May.
Gambling Teachers has tips on playing Let It Ride. I stopped playing this game (for the most part) a few years ago when a dealer told me it was one of the worst games in the casino and that I was a fool for playing. After researching I found that it’s up there with some of the worst odds.
MGM Mirage has taken their Detroit casino off the market. I have to assume there was little interest in the property because if there was a market to exit for a casino company it is Detroit.
4 staff members arrested in Planet Hollywood poker scam. That sucks.
Vegas Tripping has a good look at Las Vegas hotel customer service and twitter. I thought this was a really good post and I’m curious to see how this plays out. I engage a few of the reps on twitter and find some that are nice and some that are just pushing information. Everyone has their own style.
Finally…football is here! This is a favorite time of the year as the NFL and college football seasons are beginning while baseball is heading to the playoffs. The NBA is right around the corner then college basketball and cool weather. The NHL starts soon too, but unless the Rangers are awesome, I don’t pay much attention.
