The boxing news that the Manny Pacquiao & Ricky Hatton fight was off yesterday was not good and I do not believe it.
Arum and Schaefer quickly wrapped up negotiations and Hatton agreed to a 50-50 split of the revenue, even though he generates substantially more money in British television rights than Pacquiao could ever hope to generate in the poorer Philippines.
Manny did the same thing with De La Hoya before that fight. This fight is the biggest available to him. Any other fights will bring back much less money for Manny. Ricky Hatton can find anyone and bring them to the UK for a big fight because his draw and home market is much bigger.
